The Capitol Stones

The Capitol Stones, Rock Creek Park. These blocks were once part of the Capitol Building’s eastern front facade but were replaced by marble during a renovation in the 1950s. They were dumped in the woods and become overgrown with vegetation. Luckily, I was able to photograph them six years ago today before they were moved to Ft. Meade for safekeeping.
